Duff-Norton Linear Actuators can be used in application where there is a need to lift, move or position something. Applications are either tension, compression, or a combination of tension and compression. It is important to properly install your actuator to fit your applications for safety, efficiency and reliability. Below you will see proper ways to install your linear actuator. If you should have any questions please contact Duff-Norton customer service at 800-477-5002 or 704-588-4610.

It is important to mount the actuator so that side loading and eccentric loading are avoided. A clevis mount actuator should always be free to pivot on its clevis pin. No brackets or supports should be used that restrain the actuator housing or outer tube. To optimize the performance and life of the actuator, it should be mounted so that the load is applied along the longitudinal axis of the translating tube. Above are examples of tension and compression properly arranged and improperly arranged side loading and eccentric loading.
